Why Batman44 ?

I've been asked many times why did you / do you use 'Batman44' as your ID on Twitter?

When I chose the handle back in the day... I lent some thought to using my actual name vs this mix I'd thought of. I mulled it over quite a bit actually. Here's why.

1. It's easy to remember!

2. Years ago I read a forward Frank Miller wrote that said he 'dove into a Batman comic as a kid and never quite emerged.' I can relate. I dove into Batman comics as a young kid and read them voraciously. I'd read a ton of them by the time I headed off to first grade. I've been a Batman fan since I can remember.

3. As for 44, I've been a lifelong Hank Aaron fan. 44 is the jersey number Aaron wore. As a tribute to his work and character I've worn the number for many, many years. The statistical consistency in Aaron's career is even more staggering when you think of the adversity he faced along the way.

So Batman44 is a tribute of sorts I guess to... the kid I was back then. It reminds me to stay agile, to learn from my mistakes, and to keep moving forward.

I've thought of changing the handle many times... just never did.
